Casa Hogar Irekani
I Have a Voice actually run two separate choirs here at Casa Hogar Irekani, children between 5 and 10 are a part of the Children’s Choir and young people between the age of 14 and 25 join together in the Youth Choir.
In total, there are 19 young people that are a part of our bi-weekly program at Casa Hogar Irekani.
Our program at Casa Hogar Irekani focuses on vocal range and singing songs from memory. The choir usually sing in unison and often with small choreographies and character representation. Some senior members have also enjoyed taking the reins during some solo elements of group songs.
Like most young people amongst their peers, some of our children like to bring their own songs to the group and show off to their peers.
This specific house is unique with it’s wide range of ages within the group, our choir master Leia Corona Padilla must use a range of tools from her extensive repertoire to keep the choirs developing, engaged and most importantly, enjoying themselves.
